India has 15 cat species, more than any other country: Asiatic Golden Cat (Temminck’s Cat), Asiatic Lion, Asiatic Wildcat, Caracal, Clouded Leopard, Eurasian lynx, Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Leopard Cat, Manul (Pallas' Cat), Marbled Cat, Rusty-spotted Cat, Snow Leopard, and the Tiger.Some of these cats just barely cross the borders in to India while others exist over large parts of the country. The Asiatic Cheetah also lived in India but has been gone from there for over sixty years.
