Which cat species has a footprint that appears to be canine?

Cheetah

Explanation

The footprints of a canine have two lobes at the hind edge, with an indent in between. Most cat prints have three clearly visible lobes at the hind edge.

Cheetahs are the exception, having an indent between the two lobes on the hind edge. In addition, cheetah prints often show claw marks, as do dog prints. Most cat prints do not show claw marks.

These similarities led early naturalists to mistakenly conclude that Cheetahs were a cross between canines and felines. Cheetahs are in fact entirely feline.
